The Cs said the new passport centre in Kisii will benefit greatly many Kenyans from the region who travel to Nairobi to apply for passports.

"Long queues in Nairobi's Nyayo House will be a thing of the past. Residents will be able to access passport services directly from Kisii and this will ease congestion of people in Nairobi as the issuance of passports will be done from Kisii," noted Matiang'i.

He warned that workers attached to the office against demanding for bribes from residents before processing the passports adding that locals should report any corrupt state officer to relevant authorities for legal action.

"I don't want to hear cases of corruption in office. Residents should be served fairly without being asked for bribes," he stated.

Matiang'i was accompanied by Governors; James Ongwae of Kisii and John Nyagarama of Nyamira County, Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi, Senators Prof Sam Ongeri of Kisii and Okong'o Omogeni of Nyamira County, Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era and Nyamira County MP Jerusha Momanyi, Jimmy Angwenyi MP for Kitutu Chache North, Richard Onyonka of Kitutu Chache South, Simba Arati of Dagoreti North, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.
