President Uhuru Kenyatta receive United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres next week in Nairobi for an international conference.
The Portuguese diplomat is set to address a counter terrorism conference in Nairobi before taking in various activities among the violent extremism campaigns.
It will be the second time the UN chief is visiting Kenya since taking office. He last visited Kenya in 2017 during the International Women Conference.
Uhuru is set to hold talks with the UN chief at State House before proceeding to the conference. Details of the agenda of the meeting is not yet out.
After Kenya tour, Guterres shall visit Mozambique which is recovering from Cyclone Idai and Kenneth which killed thousands of people.
But his trip comes amid ongoing feud between Kenya and Somalia. The two countries are wrangling over Indian Ocean maritime border, which has fueled animosity from either side.
Further, Kenya is keen to ensure all Somali refugees in Dadaab are repatriated to their country before 2020. The move is facing opposition from UN.
In recent weeks, Al-Shabaab militants have also increased their offensive against Kenya. A fortnight ago, an IED exploded in Wajir killing seven police officers. The matter could be addressed by the two leaders.
