Three family members have been murdered in Bwagamoyo village in Kilifi county over alleged land disputes.
The three who were identified as Mr Mwachiro Mlala, 78, his wife Maku Mwachiro, 68, and their son Laban Mwachiro were slashed on the head as they tried to flee.
The three bodies were found dead in their homestead by neighbours who heard screams.
They are believed to have been brutally slashed with pangas on the heads.
The three bodies were found at different places within the homestead, which indicated that all the three were running in different directions before they met their deaths.
The bodies have been taken to Kilifi General hospital mortuary as the police promise to start investigations over the incident.
The couple's fourth-born son, Zoka Mwachiro, said his parents were involved in a land ownership wrangle with extended family members.
Zoka said his father had been living in fear after he was threatened.
He also promised to take action against those who were in land disputes with his father as he considered them prime suspects.
Confirming the matter, Deputy County Commissioner Mahmoud Jama, who visited the scene with the area OCPD Eunia Onyanja, said police were investigating the killings.
