Nominated Member of Parliament David Ole Sankok has hit out at Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli over the manner in which he handled this year's labour day celebrations.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sankok termed Atwoli's way of thinking as archaic and no longer beneficial.
The MP further expressed regrets for attending the celebrations which he claims failed to achieve the intended mission.
Sankok who is a member of the Labour and Social Welfare Committee in the National Assembly also pointed out that he felt disaffected by a function meant to address workers' needs turned into an opposition rally.
"As a member of parliamentary committee on labour and social welfare, I thought I was attending labour day celebration, but to my disappointment, it was a NASA Rally led by my octogenarian grandfather Atwoli who is way past intellectual menopause and doesn't want to retire," reads part of the MP's post.
He also likened Atwoli to Zimbabwe's former head of state Robert Mugabe and his Burundi's counterpart Pierre Ngurunzinza for sticking to his position in the labour movement beyond the retirement age.
"The worst form of corruption is to cling on power like Mugabe or Nkurunziza. Labour movement should lead by example by having its leadership retire at the age all workers retire!!!!" noted the MP.
