Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi has fired warning shots to residents of Marani sub-county in Kisii county who he termed as lawbreakers.
Speaking on Tuesday when he accompanied Governor James Ongwae for a developmental tour to Marani Sub County, Mr. Kigochi said cases of crime in the region are at the peak.
"I happy with the area DCC, who has come up with a program to address the issue of defilement here in Marani and Marani is the leading in defilement cases in the entire Kisii county," said Kigochi.
"This is a serious issue and we want you, members of the community, to collaborate with us to curb this menace. It is a very shameful thing for us to continue with this trend yet we know who is defiling our children," added Kigochi.
Kigochi further promised that the authorities will seek the help of the villagers and wananchi to make sure all those who have defiled kids in the past are arrested and justice served to the girls who might have been raped.
The commissioner said that the national government is working with the county governments to make sure that all the projects of both governments are actualized as per the plan laid down for the benefit of residents.
