Interior CS has sent a warning to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) who have been colluding with individual criminals noting that they will face the ruthless side of the law.

He said it is unfortunate that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers were colluding with criminals to bypass the formal licensing procedures and therefore putting the Country at risk.

Speaking when he met the new National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) board members on Monday at Harambee House the Cabinet Secretary said those found culpable will face the wrath of the law and its consequences.

He also noted that those officers who got themselves involved in the cloning of vehicles number plates are under intense investigation and that the country will its results.

"Investigations against individuals suspected to be involved in the cloning of number plates and fraudulent registration of vehicles are at an advanced stage," Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i said.

 He further said that the irregularities in the board has crippled the national security.

“Such irregularities have a ripple effect on our national security – the recent Dusit Hotel Complex attack is a case in point,” the Cabinet Secretary noted

He said there shall be no place for laggards at NTSA as the government seeks to institutionalize better road safety measures in the country.

“Our aim is to have better road manners and near zero traffic-related deaths,” reiterated Matiang'i

He tasked the new Board of Management for the Authority with ensuring a reduction of traffic-related deaths by 50 percent this year and ultimately sustain near zero deaths.

“Honest and loyal leadership is what Kenyans are demanding, and you must be directly accountable to them by enforcing all the laws ruthlessly and applying the standards without compromising,” the CS emphasized.

The State agency (NTSA) was transferred to Interior ministry in January this year.
