The DP had joined his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta for launching of State of Judiciary and Administration of Justice report following the invitation of Chief Justice David Maraga.

He said: "Your Excellency, it's my first time to visit the offices of Chief Justice. And I am inappropriately dressed. I had prepared to go for another function out of town and my boss called me and told me to pass through this place first and Chief Justice I am sorry."

DP Ruto apologised to CJ Maraga for not being appropriately dressed.

"It is not out of disrespect that I am dressed this way. I want to apologise to you, and it also has nothing to do with what I have said before (about the Judiciary). We respect our judicial system," he said

The executive has been leading onslaught against the Judiciary in the fight against graft, often accusing judges of colliding with graft suspects to evade punishment.

During the function, Ruto insisted that the country had not lost Sh21 billion to the construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, contrary to DCI George Kinoti's preliminary findings.

Dr Ruto, later on, attended a function at Bungoma where he urged MPs to support JKIA takeover by KQ, adding that the move was timely.
