The deceased's body was found dangling from a tree in their family farm in Ngai Sub-location on Wednesday morning.

Area assistant chief Mathias Katiku said the body was discovered by the deceased's parents who later reported the matter to him.

"The boy was among the KCPE candidates who received their results early this week. He was eighteen years, his parents found his body hanging from a tree in their farm," Katiku said.

Katiku spoke to this writer on the phone on Wednesday.

He said what prompted the boy to commit suicide was not immediately established.

However, Katiku disclosed that the deceased had mental issues due to drug and substance abuse.

"He is said to have been into drugs but we can't say for sure if they prompted him to take his life," he said.

Katiku urged parents to be vigilant and positively engage their teenage children to avoid the recurrence of such unfortunate incidences.

"Parents shouldn't be too busy for their kids. Moreso, teenagers since they need constant guidance and counseling to enable then handle issues affecting them some of which are too much for them," he said.

His body was removed to Makueni Level 4 Hospital's mortuary for preservation.
