Barely hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the launch of new currency on Saturday, controversial lawmaker Miguna Miguna reacted terming the process as 'useless'.
According to flamboyant lawyer, printing new currency has no value to Kenyans. He argued that the Central Bank of Kenya boss Patrick Njoroge won't supply the new denomination for free.
"Kenyans, the printing of a new currency denomination is meaningless because the now irrelevant mafia member Patrick Njoroge will not give them out as gifts to poor Kenyans.
"Printing money does not add value to the currency as Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe proved when they tried to print themselves sore: It adds INFLATION." Miguna Miguna noted in facebook
Furthermore, he went to state that the process of abolishing Sh1,000 notes by October 1st, 2019 won't corner thieves. He further said printing of money won't help to recover public land and money looted money stored in Kenyan banks accounts and abroad.
"Moreover, most if not all of the stolen public money has been used to purchase properties in Kenya and abroad. How will printing new currency get those back? Hoarded money will be SOUVENIRS and can't be used as evidence in court. These are nonsensical despotic games,"Miguna Miguna added
