For decades now, there has been tremendous progress in resolving feuds among local musicians in Kisii over the ownership of lyrics.
The increase in the number of hit songs hitting the airwaves has led to the emergence of many artists who were unknown before, and this could mark the beginning of the "struggle for fame" among the artists.
However, there seems to be no solution to the existing tiff between two vernacular hitmakers in the county.
The release of 'Tototacha' (which means Don't Step on Us) by upcoming musician Dexta Briyanka, has sparked protest from another musician named Babu Gee, alias 'Omoisia O'mong'are' who claims to be the original composer of the song.
However, Dexta Briyanka has rubbished the claims, saying he was inspired to write the lyrics in a dream.
Responding to Dexta's remarks, Babu Gee has threatened to go to court to seek justice.
"I am not going to rest until this matter is resolved. I may seek justice through the court of law," he said.
Speaking during an interview in one of the local radio stations, Dexta defended himself by saying: "We cannot thrive on sideshows. Let our competition be based on merit rather than this backbiting going around".
