A 37-year-old man is fighting for his life at Nyamache Sub-County hospital after he consumed poison on Friday evening.
Residents at Nyamache shopping center said the victim, Douglas Omboye returned home at 7 pm drunk when his wife, Elvin Kwamboka attacked him.
"Kwamboka descended on him with kicks and blows when he returned home drunk. He drunk pesticide poison blaming his wife for beating him in the presence of their 2 children," said Enock Morogoro
Mr Morogoro said when Kwamboka realised what her husband had done she alarmed the neighbors who arrived and took him to hospital.
Area chief Victor Maeba confirmed the incident and said Omboye has not been providing for his family.
"The victim has ventured into alcohol consumption neglecting his duties as a man in the house. His wife beat him because he failed in his responsibilities," he said.
