The Fourth Estate was on Wednesday put on notice over the murder case facing journalist Jacque Maribe and her lover Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie.
High court judge Justice James Wakiaga warned the media against pre-empting the case.
The judge put the prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki on the spot over a person believed to be leaking details of the case to the media.
Wakiaga was especially concerned over an affidavit filed in court by an investigating officer called Maxwell Otieno which leaked to the media.
Justice Wakiaga said he is ‘an old-school judge who believes in blunt justice but he feels bad when it appears like he was influenced by other quarters’.
Monica Kimani’s family lawyer also raised issues with the media saying so much information which is untrue has been broadcasted to the public.
“As I said earlier, I want the media to guard what it writes out there. What you put out there might put me in trouble if I acquit these guys,” Wakiaga said.
