A somber mood has engulfed Kalungu Secondary School in Kibwezi, Makueni County after a form three student died moments after colliding with his teammate while playing football.
Confirming the demise of the student whose identity has not been revealed, Deputy County Commissioner Vitalis Ogur said the student was about to score before colliding with the teammate while in fast motion.
The 18-year-old student died after the forceful impact between him and the team.
The deceased was pronounced dead shortly after he was rushed to Kibwezi Amref Hospital in an attempt to rescue his life.
Ogur further said the officers at the health facility are now probing into the circumstances that led to the demise of the form three student.
“We are treating the incident as an accident in the meantime while we are waiting for more inquiry into the matter,” Ogur said.
The student’s body was transferred to Kibwezi Funeral Home pending investigations into the cause of his demise.
The family of the deceased is yet to speak on the incident
