Just like any other, the Kamba community has lots of beliefs, customs, and cultures.
Despite various scientific explanations on why cocks used to crow at daytime in the olden days, the Kambas could hear none of it.
Any cock that crowed at daytime was immediately slaughtered since it was perceived as a taboo and bad omen.
This is due to the belief that a cock which crows at daytime wishes death on its owner.
Those who didn't take the belief seriously would use stones to chase the cock away.
It was considered a bad omen just like when a dog wails.
Dogs are expected to bark normally but some wail as if they are passing messages.
To you, it may seem normal but in Kambaland such a dog would be stoned and chased to keep away the bad omen due to it's wailing.
The dog wouldn't be allowed back in the compound unless it started wailing again.
However, there hasn't been a case where someone died just because his dog wailed or his cock crowed at daytime.
Surprisingly, such beliefs are still embraced in some areas in Kambaland up to now.
