Speaking at the launch of the model community health program in Isiolo on Thursday, Mutua said he is ready to give other candidates a run for their money, when that time comes.

Governor Mutua, who has been rooting for a lifestyle audit of all leaders, challenged presidential candidates to concentrate on service delivery before they talk about President Kenyatta’s succession.

“In 2022 I will vie to become the 5th President of Kenya. There is nothing wrong with that. But I am not consumed by a desperate campaign and politicisation that is slowing down our economic growth,” said Mutua as quoted by Standard.

He opined that Kenya needs a leader who is committed to ensuring that taxpayers benefit from the fruits of devolution.

During the event, he divulged that he is in talks with other leaders in a bid to form a partnership ahead of 2022.

"I am personally in serious discussions with critical leaders for a strong partnership come 2022 elections. Our coalition of like-minded and motivated leaders will be one whose interest is Kenyans first," he said.
