He said that various regions have reaped big from the fruits of devolution since the promulgation of the new constitution, adding that he is impressed by the same.

The second in command asked leaders to focus on service delivery instead of poking holes into the new system of governance.

Ruto also said that the national government recognises the county assemblies’ role in governance, adding that they deserve support to deliver on their duties to the people of their areas of jurisdiction.

“As a national government, we recognise the place of county assemblies in ensuring that the county governance is promoted and succeeds. Without county assemblies, our general development would be endangered,” said Ruto, as quoted by Standard.

He went on to urge the leadership of the county to embrace good governance for the sake of supporting the economic development of the nation. He further said that the country has been enjoying diversity in the different sectors of the economy since devolution was adopted.
