Appearing frail, Mr Okoth, an advocate of education, hailed stakeholders for supporting learners in the region and even promised to come bavk.

Mr Okoth,41, also hailed Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, who was present at the event, terming him his mentor who he usually listened to in many occasions.

Mr Wanyonyi is serving for the second term in Nairobi. He is a lawyer by profession and a brother to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

"By the mercy of God, I'll handover this soon. I'll look for some friends to come over and even those who are close to Kibra primary school. I thank all stakeholders who have contributed to quality access of education in this area.

"We have had 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school due to team work. A special friend on mine Tim Wanyonyi is here, he's headed to somewhere else. He's a good friend, a mentor and an advisor who I listen to," he said.

Mr Okoth lost battle to colon cancer after two years of treatment. He was discharged from a Paris hospital where he spent over 5 months undergoing chemotherapy.

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday termed Okoth as 'his son', adding that he spent most time on Wednesday looking for him but the phone wasn't going through.

Also, Mr Odinga recalled how he supported the MPs education. In 2013, he brought him to politics where he won Kibra seat, after the constituency was partitioned from the larger Lang'ata constituency.
