Orange Democratic Movement party Kibra by-election contestant Imran Okoth was on Friday formally endorsed by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Mr Okoth will be battling with six others in the race to succeed his late brother Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer in July this year.
IEBC has scheduled elections for November 7th. On Friday, Odinga said Kibra is his home, adding that he's keen to see Mr Okoth winning the polls.
"Lastly, President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent Sh1 million for parents and another one million for construction. I am also giving another one million. We shall continue standing with you.
"Kibra people, that's my home. I am with my boy here Imran. Stand up so that people see you. The next MP for Kibra is Imran. Thank you," he said.
Before being partitioned from the larger Lang'ata, Kibra was under Raila Odinga for two decades, a reason which makes the ODM leader believe it's his stronghold.
Jubilee party has fielded McDonald Mariga, the former Harambee Stars midfielder. Deputy President William Ruto is behind his candidature.
Belgut MP Nelson Koech recently said the decision to field McDonald Mariga will shape city politics for Deputy President William Ruto.
“Kibra has significance to us. Firstly, a win for us will demonstrate that Jubilee, on whose ticket DP will run, is the party of the future. Also, capturing Kibra, which is in the capital city and held by our opponents, would be a good sign of bigger things to come,” Mr Koech said.
Others in the race are Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress, a former aide of Mr Raila Odinga and Eng Ramadhan Khamisi of Ford Kenya.
