Controversial blogger Robert Alai will remain in police custody for 14 days pending investigations into a case where he is accused of allegedly disclosing terror-related information.
On Wednesday, a Nairobi court allowed the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) to detain the blogger pending their investigation.
While delivering the directive, Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Sinkiyian Tobiko said prosecution provided sufficient grounds to warrant for the blogger's detention.
She further ruled that the prosecution established a link that the blogger could possibly engage in communication with suspected terror elements.
The Magistrate declined to grant the 30 days detention the prosecution had requested, noting that 14 days are enough for anti-terror detectives to complete their probe.
She ruled that further directions will be made on or before the expiry of the 14 days.
The blogger will be detained at the ATPU headquarters in Nairobi.
Alai was arrested on Monday after allegedly posting gory pictures of Administration Police (AP) officers killed after their vehicle run over an Improvised Electronic Device (IED) in Wajir county on Saturday last week.
Prior to his arrest, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the National Police Service (NPS) had warned against sharing of terror-related photos.
Alai allegedly shared the photos castigating the government in the manner in which the officers were handled after the attack.
