The Luo Nyanza vote will be very lucrative in the approaching 2022 general polls.
The race for the millions of votes the region has to offer will toughen up should opposition leader and regional political kingpin Raila Odinga keep off the race.
However, here are the few people expected to participate in the race who are likely to get a piece of the vote.
1. Musalia Mudavadi
The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader is among national leaders who can easily get a portion of the Luo Nyanza vote in a presidential election.
The former Deputy Prime Minister has repeatedly backed Raila in his previous presidential bids, making him an easy sell in the region.
In addition, his decorum in how he handles politics gives him an advantage in getting a portion of Luo Nyanza votes.
2. Alfred Mutua
The youthful governor has proved his readiness to serve courtesy of his remarkable development record in Machakos.
Though he has not been in good terms with Raila, he is known for his verbal abilities to convince anyone into seeing things his way.
3. Kalonzo Musyoka
The easygoing Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader has backed Raila twice in his presidential bids. It will be easy for him to convince the Luo Nyanza electorate to vouch for him based on his loyalty to Raila who commands a huge following in this region.
Just like Mudavadi, Kalonzo has carried out his political activities with decorum which is endearing to the people in Nyanza.
However, his manifesto and work plan will also determine whether or not he will be given the votes.
