Speaking in Buuri, Meru, on Monday, the county boss took issue with the ongoing fractioning of area leaders, noting that the same might lead to wastage of the region's political muscle.

He urged leaders to exercise seriousness in the political moves, at a time when a number of separate political parties are coming up ahead of the much-anticipated race.

He called upon voters to carefully scrutinize area politicians, firing at a group of area leaders associating themselves with the two warring factions of the ruling Jubilee Party.

The county boss noted that as area leaders, they don't want to hear anything about the Tangatanga or Kieleweke Jubilee groupings.

“Politics is like fire; do not get into politics foolishly. As a region, we do not vote foolishly anymore. Politics must be planned. That is why we need to sit down and plan for the mountain region politics.

We do not want to hear there is a team called ‘Tangatanga’ or ‘Kieleweke’ going round disturbing people,” he was quoted by the Standard.

He said that a division of the region will easily be taken advantage of by other regions, adding that the Mt Kenya region has already been overtaken on matters development.

“We hear of Sh30 billion dams being constructed in Rift Valley. Here in Meru the biggest project we have is Sh1 billion for sewerage. That is why we need to be focused so that we benefit fully in the next government after 2022," he added.

He was speaking while accompanying other leaders for a fundraiser at St Johns AIPCA church in Buuri.
