Munawar Abdalla was reportedly attacked by his uncle, Kisumu businessman Abdalla Saad, and his wife Shadia Fakour when he visited them at their home in Tom Mboya Estate in Kisumu on October 6.

According to his aunt Ms Munira Khadija, the two attacked and injured him, after which the incident was reported at the Kondele Police station.

“Saad together with his wife Shadia Farouk and cousin Abdulkadhir Naji attacked Munawar,” Ms Munira is quoted by the Nation.

She added that the attack was not justified, terming it an attempt to take the life of Munawar.

However, the claims have been rubbished by Saad's son who maintains that the issue is a domestic case which is now being 'blown out of proportion by the media'.

Munira noted that the young man is in a serious condition and remains in a coma.

“We first took him to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was attended to and referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret where he is currently recuperating but still in a coma,” she is quoted.

She is now calling upon the office of the Director Public Prosecution to intervene and ensure justice for the young man as he fights for his life, adding that the chief suspect remains unshaken.

“I call upon the DPP to help us because Saad is well off and has been bragging that nothing can be done to him. He says he is unshakable despite the attack," she is further quoted.

Both Saad and Naji have since been arrested and released on bond but Ms Shadia is yet to be nabbed.

Kondele OCPD Henry Simiyu has noted that probe into the issue has been launched.
