A prison warder was arrested on Tuesday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for allegedly sharing photos of the fallen soldiers in Wajir with blogger Robert Alai.
Moments after the arrest of Alai, the prison warder, Patrick Safari wrote on Twitter that the detectives were at his work station looking for him despite being on leave.
"So now detectives wants to also arrest me on claims that I shared the photos of our fallen officers to Robert Alai. I'm on leave and being informed that they were at my work place requesting for my details," Safari tweeted.
He was later arrested in Kitui and taken to Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) in Nairobi.
Safari's arrest also caught the attention of Nairobi-based human rights activist Boniface Mwangi who tweeted: "Prison warder @patricksafariR was arrested yesterday in Kitui. He is on official leave. He is being held by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) in Nairobi. Police claim he provided blogger @RobertAlai with that image of dead police officers piled up in the back of a pick up."
Alai was arrested by DCI detectives a day after being condemned for posting pictures of fallen soldiers on social media.
He is expected to be charged with disclosure of information in relation to terrorist activities.
