Residents of Masimba in Kisii County are mourning the death of a bodaboda operator who allegedly consumed poison protesting that his fellow bodaboda had snatched a woman he has been having a love affair with.
Kisii Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi said the deceased, Mark Kebati, a father of three, consumed poison on Wednesday after his 'mpango wa kando' identified as Angeline Moraa eloped with another rider.
"Kebati has been having an affair with Moraa yet he was married. Moraa dumped him and eloped with another bodaboda something that angered Kebati," said Kigochi as quoted by Egesa FM.
The county security boss noted that Kebati had a confrontation with the man who snatched the woman from him on Wednesday morning at Masimba shopping centre before he returned to his home.
"The deceased returned home and consumed poison while his real wife was away working at their farm. Neighbours who heard him screaming for help rushed him to Masimba hospital for treatment but, was pronounced dead on arrival," said the commissioner.
The body of the deceased was moved to RAM hospital morgue while the said woman and her new lover have gone into hiding.
