Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama may soon be wearing a jersey of one of the famous clubs in Italy.
Reports in a section of Italian press have linked Victor Wanyama with AS Roma, which plays in the Italian topflight Serie A.
Roma president James Joseph Pallotta has reportedly trained his eyes on Wanyama’s signature as a perfect replacement for midfield powerhouse Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Pellegrini has been linked with joining AS Roma rivals AC Milan, while Wanyama currently plays for English side Tottenham Hotspurs.
Wanyama joined Spurs in 2016 from Southampton, but had a rough season .last year, nursing a knee injury he suffered while in training with his club during a pre-season tour in the USA.
Should he join Roma, Wanyama will become only the second Kenyan to play in the Italian Serie A in recent times.
His elder brother Macdonald Mariga previously played for Inter Milan, with the highlight being in the squad that won the UEFA Champions league under current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho back in 2010.
AS Roma hosts home matches at the 70,634 capacity Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Last season, the team reached the semi-finals of the EUFA Champions League defeating Spanish heavyweights Barcelona in the process.
Roma finished third behind Juventus and Napoli in the league last season.
The team has won three Seria A titles in history.
