Kilonzo says that Ukambani has strong leaders who have high chances of succeeding President Kenyatta but they may never ascend to power because of their disunity and political blackmail.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Thursday, Kilonzo said that Ukambani is among the most divided communities in the country.

"Unless we put our differences aside and work on a common agenda, our community will continue to be used as a rubber stamp for others," the MP said.

Kilonzo said that Ukambani has remained politically irrelevant for many decades and that it is time leaders came together and charted its way forward.

"We have brilliant leaders who can make a difference in the country's top politics but disunity and envy are what is ailing us," he added.

The MP asked veteran Kamba politicians led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to champion unity.

"Kalonzo as the senior Kamba politician should bring the community together and help it chart its future," he added.

He said that Kalonzo and Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua will be taken seriously in their bid to contest for the presidency in 2022 if they push for unity.

Kalonzo and Mutua are among top leaders who have declared an interest in the 2022 presidential election.
