Only two African countries have endorsed Kenya in her bid to clinch the nonpermanent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) seat.
The two; Namibia and Botswana, through their presidents Hage Heingob and Mokgweetsi Masisi have already vowed to go the Kenya way in the poll set for September.
This raises questions on the stand of her immediate neighbours within the East African region, who have remained silent despite appearing closer to Kenya.
This is even as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains reluctant to release the list of nations likely to back Kenya in her bid, according to the People Daily.
During his visit to the country earlier in the month, Masisi based his country's support for Kenya on the friendship between the two countries, a slot also being sought be Djibouti.
He banked on the move to further strethgnen the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
“We support Kenya to be voted in for the non-permanent UNSC seat, Botswana will vote for Kenya and it is out of desire to further nourish our friendship and we trust Kenya,” said the President.
Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma is banking on Kenya's accolade in global peace afforts to land it the position, hard of the voting set for the United States.
