The Taita Taveta Country standoff pitting Governor Granton Samboja and Members of the County Assembly may prove to be the next battle frontier pitting ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
The rift between the executive and the county assembly has paralyzed all activities in the Coastal county even as the Governor ponders for the next move to unlock the deadlock.
With a political solution being one of the options for the beleaguered Samboja, the Governor last week met with the former Prime Minister even as he suggested for the dissolution of the county government.
However, in what may appear as an extension of the growing Raila-Ruto political tug of war, after the last week meeting, the DP is set to meet the Members of the County Assembly in what many can interpret as a political move to counter Raila.
According to the Standard, the County Assembly has confirmed that the Ruto-MCAs meeting has been organized by Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen, a DP confidante.
ODM party Chief Whip, who is also the Kasigau Ward Rep Abraham Juma confirmed to Standard that Murkomen had invited them for a meeting.
“The NASA principals have taken sides on the budget standoff by only meeting the Executive. They (Raila and Kalonzo) should have also met us to get our view so as to make an informed decision on the matter,” said the MCA yesterday as quoted by the Standard.
