Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, Kabogo said that the Sonko should be given an opportunity to choose a Deputy governor pending hearing and determination of his case. The former county boss said Sonko is still in office and has the mandate to discharge his duties.

“In cases of no Governor & no deputy, the law is clear; the speaker takes up the job for 6 days then elections are held. But the governor is there, he has just stepped aside. Gov. Sonko should be asked to choose a deputy,” he said.

Kabogo highlighted that the governors facing graft cases are still innocent until the prosecution proves them guilty. He reminded the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to present his evidence in court and allow the governor to respond to the same.

He decried the delay of cases in court. Kabogo asked the DPP to ensure that cases in court should be handled faster.

“The Governors with cases in court are innocent until proven guilty by the court. If DPP has enough evidence, why don’t we hear these cases on a daily basis? Justice delayed is justice denied #NewsNight,” he said.
