A passenger on one of the ferries plying the Likoni Channel has sustained injuries while attempting to get on board.
Writing on Twitter, the Kenya Ferry Services said that injured male passenger was hit by a loaded cart which lost control in an incident said to have occurred at around 11:00 am.
The man was quickly attended to by the KFS staff and members of the Kenya Red Cross.
"At 1100 hrs a male pedestrian who was heading to board Mv. Likoni ferry was hit and got injured by a loaded Mkokoteni which had lost control on the mainland ramp, our staff and the red cross team gave first aid and rushed him to hospital. #LikoniFerry," KFS tweeted.
This comes just a day after a video showing a Kenyatta University bus struggling to move forward just inches from the ocean went viral.
The Likoni Channel gained a lot of publicity about a month ago after Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu sank at the Likoni Channel after their car slid off the ramp and plunged into the ocean.
The bodies of the two were retrieved after more than 10 days of recovery efforts.
Members of the public have expressed deep concern about the state of security at the busy channel which allows movement between the island and the mainland.
