The prime suspect in the murder of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen, Sarah Wairimu has now demanded his body for burial.
Through her lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu, has said that she is the only one entitled to bury the deceased tycoon. She has since objected a request to give the body to Cohen’s sister for burial.
Murgor said that it is against the African norms for the sister of the deceased to bury him. She has since written to Chiromo mortuary opposing the release of the body to the sister for the final burial rites.
“Sarah is innocent under the Kenyan Constitution and nothing has happened so far to take away her right to her husband’s body,” Murgor said on Wednesday, outside Chiromo mortuary.
The lawyer has also faulted the sister for showing interest in the matter so that she can lay him to rest under Jewish custom.
Murgor has also maintained that his client is innocent until proven guilty.
He has also accused the Director of Criminal Investigations of planting evidence at the home of the deceased in Kitisuru, Nairobi where the body was found.
