Dr Mishra Kiprop was among leaders who when they declared interest for a political seat in Uasin Gishu, many dismissed him, saying he would never make it.

This was basically because there had never been a non-Kalenjin elected as a Member of Parliament in the county.

However, Mishra beat all the odds and managed to not only secure the Kesses parliamentary seat but he also registered a resounding win against his opponents.

When he was declared the winner, many still said he bought his way to winning the elections due to the fact that he staged an arguably expensive campaign.

But fast forward a year later and it is now becoming clear that Kesses residents made the right decision in electing Mishra, who is popularly known as Kiprop Arap Chelule by locals.

Currently, Mishra is among the very few leaders who have proved to be performers and still easily accessible.

Within a year in a leadership position, the first-time MP has managed to fulfil several of his campaign pledges, many of which his critics said were mere empty promises.

It’s only recently that Mishra launched the Kesses Youth Sponsorship Programme, an initiative that will see 700 youths from the constituency get free sponsorship to study at the Eldoret National Polytechnic.

In the event that was presided over by the Deputy President William Ruto, Mishra also unveiled the first-phase of the cow distribution program targeting the less fortunate families.

He targets to distribute 100 cows in the first phase.

As things stand now, Mishra is the best performing MP in Uasin Gishu and he is destined to set the bar high for other MP’s and elected leaders.
