Peter Mokaya Tabichi a teacher who won Sh100 million in the global teacher award has said that he knew he will become a teacher but, not a winner.
Tabichi while speaking during an interview at a local television on Wednesday evening said he never knew he will win the top global award.
"Yes, I knew I will become a teacher because that was my dream while I was growing but, I didn't know that one time I will be great as I am today," he said.
Tabichi attributed his Sh100 million win to God saying he has always worked hard to change the community.
"The win came as a result of hard and prayers. This is a win not only for me or my family but, also a win for Kenya, Africa and the whole world," he stated.
The teacher who teaches in a remote secondary school in Nakuru county appealed to teachers to be good role models to learners.
"Learners will copy what teachers do. Teachers should be morally upright and ensure they are dedicating their time to teach learners for better exam results," he added.
