Residents of Nyeri will on Wednesday night hold a candle-lighting vigil for the late Ivy Wangechi.
The slain Moi University medical student was murdered in the institution's premises by her alleged lover, Naftali Kinuthia.
The honour vigil will be led by Nyeri based blogger Waruguru Wa Kiai and Lawyer Wahome Thuku at Osman Allu roundabout in Nyeri Town.
According to the family spokesperson, John King'ori (Wangechi’s Uncle), the deceased will be laid to rest at her grandfather's farm at Mahiga village in Othaya constituency, Nyeri County on Thursday.
King’ori revealed that could be expecting a huge number of mourners during the burial due to the public interests created by the nature of Ivy's demise.
He added that the family is currently financially strained and cannot solely meet the expenses of the burial and therefore called on well-wishers to come-in and assist them to give their beloved daughter a befitting send-off.
Those who will be attending have been asked to carry a candle with them and dress in black.
