Kinyanjui went against tradition and instead of hosting the who-is-who for the luncheon; he invited everyone to a sumptuous meal.

The meals were served at the Afraha Stadium Annex grounds.

“We are very happy today with our governor, unlike before when only the rich are recognized today we have also been given something to eat,” Esther Miring’u said.

The celebrations saw a good number of residents attend.

However, there had been quiet concerns among employees of the county government over a memo that had been sent requiring all county executive members and chief officers to accompany the governor to the function.

The memo also directed that the chief officers ensure their staff attend the function failure to which a disciplinary action would be taken.
