Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has claimed that powerful forces are out to block Deputy President William Ruto from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Her remarks on Friday came hours after DP William Ruto promised to tame his supporters from politicking when he shared podium with Uhuru in Eldoret.
But Jumwa, who was elected on ODM, vowed to ensure the dark forces are defeated when the country goes to polls in 2022, adding that they will not succeed.
"The dark forces working against Ruto will fail. We will rally behind him and ensure he ascends to power," said Jumwa during a function at Trans Nzoia on Friday.
In the past, DP Ruto had also accused unnamed people of frustrating his bid, often dismissing the fight against corruption as a plot to bring him down.
Speaking at the same function, Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru said though the President and his deputy have no differences, party officials are fanning division for political mileage.
She went on, "Tuju is out to finish JP and we are not going to allow anybody to destroy what we sacrificed a lot to build."
DP Ruto is at pole position to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta but differences within his own Jubilee party threaten to weaken him further.
