Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi has come out to defend party leader Raila Odinga over accusations of rocking the Jubilee Party.
Raila has been on the receiving end from Deputy President William Ruto and his allies for allegedly using his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta to destroy the ruling party ahead of 2022 elections.
However, Mbadi has dismissed the accusations saying what was causing the simmering differences in Jubilee was the renewed purge on graft.
"The only thing that is breaking Jubilee is the fight against corruption. Raila is not interfering with Jubilee," he said in an exclusive interview on KTN on Tuesday night.
The Suba South MP said Uhuru was determined to slay the corruption dragon but observed he was facing opposition from Ruto’s camp.
Speaking during the Big Story segment, Mbadi said the fallout between Uhuru and Ruto was imminent and noted the governing outfit will only survive if the graft purge is suspended.
"There is another group that praises and supports corruption- that is the group led by the Deputy President. Jubilee will only stand if the President stops the war of corruption," the ODM boss said.
Mbadi further rubbished claims that Ruto was being targeted in the graft war saying his allies were making the allegations to halt the ongoing probe in the controversial dams in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
"The dishonesty in this country is too loud. This matter became politicized after the exposé on Arror and Kimwarer dam projects," he said.
