President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again hinted at supporting a referendum push to overhaul the system of governance.
Speaking during at a burial in Koru, Kisumu on Saturday, Uhuru stressed on the need for the nation to do away with its current winner-takes-all system.
"Going forward, we don't want to have a situation where a section of Kenyans will feel left out after their candidates don’t make it to the top position," he was quoted by the Nation.
He was speaking during the funeral ceremony of former Youth Development Enterprise Fund Bruce Odhiambo in Koru in Muhoroni, Kisumu county.
He said that his union with opposition leader Raila Odinga through their March 9 truce seeks to cement inclusion of all Kenyans into the government.
On his side, Raila who was also present reiterated on the need for politicians to quit politicking and await the right time.
"It is time for the government to work and initiate development programmes that they promised Kenyans during the campaigns. This can only be realised in an environment free of politics and blackmail," he said.
Raila and his team are also pushing for constitutional amendments to return the nation to its initial parliamentary governance system from the current presidential one.
