According to LBDA chairman Odoyo Owidi, the taxman is in the final stages of relocating to the mall, which will list it among the key tenants occupying the multi-billion facility.

He said so far, 54 percent of the spaces have been taken.

“Office spaces have been occupied and the demand for space has been at its peak, and there are a number of activities that are taking place in the mall,” he told the Standard on Saturday.

He noted that what remains is the completion of the Kisumu-Kakamega Road, which is yet to be completed two years down the line, hindering the accessibility of the mall.

Owidi argued that in its current state, the road is likely to negatively affect business in the mall.

"We are hopeful that the stretch will be completed in time to ease access to the mall,” he added.

KRA was among the first entities to show interest in occupying the mall, before changing heart on the plan, but would later proceed with plans to take up a space in the establishment.
