Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o on Tuesday denied claims of plotting to embarrass and intimidate his deputy Mathews Owili.
In an interview with Daily Nation, the governor said that he enjoys cordial ties with his deputy amid claims of their fallout.
This is after senior county officials alleged that the governor had hatched a plan to evict Owili from office.
Through his communications director Aloyce Ager, Nyong'o said that his rivals want to take advantage of the eviction notice issued to the county government over rent arrears to blackmail him as he seeks to deliver on his promises.
Ager said that there is no much to read from the eviction notice, adding that the governor means well for his deputy.
"There is somebody who is trying to make political capital out of the rent issue. Someone is just out to create a wedge between Dr Owili and (Prof) Nyong'o," said Ager, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The county government of Kisumu is reportedly not ready to settle the rent arrears of the Deputy Governor's office.
Vauxhall Holdings Limited is demanding over the Sh3.5 million rent arrears from the county.
