Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika waded into the revenue allocation debate consuming public discource.
Speaking on Saturday during a fundraiser in Kuresoi, the outspoken legislator vouched for an increase in the amount that is allocated for counties.
"The funds for counties have to be increased. Counties have to get money. (Pesa ya counties lazima iongezewe. Lazima counties zipate pesa)," the first time senator said.
The Ruto-backing legislator contended that more money for the counties would help in bringing about development and addressing women issues.
Her words come amid a tug of war between the national government and the county governments over the issue.
A closed-door meeting between the chairman of the Council of Governors Wycliffe Oparanya failed to make headway.
Last week the stalemate escalated as the governors filed a petition at the Supreme Court, seeking the intervention of the highest court in the land in the ongoing tussle.
Kihika was joined by other leaders including Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki and Nakuru Town MP Liza Chelule and area MP Moses Cheboi in a fundraiser to support 25 to churches in Kuresoi.
Prof Kithure Kindiki seconded Kihika's remarks, saying that senators will continue to push for the counties to be given more funds as recommended by the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
