Speaking on Friday in Nairobi, Melida expressed her confidence in how the presiding judge had handled the case.

"I appreciate the work done by Judge Jesse Lesiit, Justice Jesse Lesiit. And more so, I thought that the case was compromised but dear God Almighty also intervened, " Sharon mother said

The case resumed this week with lawyers from FIDA, a women rights organisation, offering legal services.

Migori County governor Okoth Obado was implicated in the grisly murder of Sharon with whom he is said to have been romantically involved.

Other officials of the Migori County government and an MCA are among those facing charges over the murder.

The university student was reportedly pregnant for the county boss.

Governor Okoth Obado has strongly rejected allegations levelled against him that he masterminded the chilling murder.

Sharon's family have long held the view that the county boss was involved in the murder of their daughter and want him to face justice.

Justice Lesiit refuses to quit from the case.

Melida Auma reacted with tears in court as the presiding judge stood firm on the case.
