Maangi, on Wednesday said he didn't snub the event, adding that he was held up elsewhere.

"Mr. Matiang'i has been a good friend for a long period of time. I snubbed the event he presided over on Monday because I was busy elsewhere. Though my boss James Ongwae was present at the event," he said.

The Deputy Governor insisted that he is not afraid facing of facing Matiang'i in the battle to succeed Governor James Ongwae in 2022.

"If Matiang'i will be in the ballot for Kisii governor's seat in 2022 I will face him. Kisii electorates will decide on who they should elect once Ongwae completes tenure," he noted.

He said his experience as a Deputy Governor for the two terms he has been Ongwae's deputy puts him at a better position to win the county's top seat unlike other aspirants who will be vying against him.
