Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu wants Majority Leaders in National Assembly and the Senate Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale to quit the positions.
Ngunjiri said the two have made anti-government utterances and as such cannot be leaders of the same government in the two houses.
The vocal MP took issues with the two after Murkomen went public on Sunday that he does not support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call for a lifestyle audit on all government officers.
The Nyeri Town MP also said Duale had taken an anti-government stand on the fight against contraband goods.
“Clearly the two Majority Leaders no longer represent the interests of the party that put them in their current leadership positions in Parliament. They represent partisan and sectarian interests. They also clearly not support the President’s efforts to fight corruption or rid Kenya of contraband and/or poisonous products,” Ngunjiri said.
He added that the two cannot be trusted to drive the government’s agenda in both houses and should be sent packing.
“Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen, therefore, need to resign from their positions as Majority Leader Senate and National Assembly respectively. If they do not do so I will be requesting our Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta to call for a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting where we can discuss their conduct with the aim of kicking them out of those two offices,” the MP said.
Ngunjiri was speaking in Nyeri on Wednesday during a press address.
