Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has nominated Edwin Bett for the position of county secretary.
Bett's name has already been forwarded to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly for vetting.
Speaker David Kiplagat made the communication from the chair on Tuesday during the Assembly's plenary sittings and MCAs are expected to either accept to reject the governor's nominee for the position.
“The office of the governor has nominated County Secretary Edwin Bett pursuit to section 44 (ii) (a) and (b) of the County Government Act of 2012 I hereby NOMINATE Edwin Bett of ID No 21450321 for vetting by the County Assembly,” the speaker said.
Bett has been the acting county secretary following the appointment of former County Secretary Peter Leley by the national government to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee as chief executive officer.
“I am committing the same to the Committee on Appointment for the purposes of vetting and tabling the report to this House for approval,” added Kiplagat.
Once Edwin Bett has passed the vetting exercise, the Committee on Appointment will then forward his name to the Assembly for his appointment.
