The gender saga revolving around athlete Shieys Chepkosgei alias Hillary Kiprotich has taken a new twist after his siblings came out to dismiss claims that he is a woman.
Kiprotich earlier in the week admitted before an Eldoret court that he was a man, but decided to register himself in female races, which even saw him win medals.
Also shocking was how he managed to serve at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) as a female nurse, without being discovered.
And though his elder sister Rosebella Kipchumba admits that he had a habit of putting on his sisters' clothes, she ruled him out as a transgender.
“I used to bathe him when he was young and he was a normal boy with no abnormality whatsoever,” she told Standard.
She further noted that things took a shocking turn when Kiprotich took a man home some two years back, with the man identifying himself as his 'boyfriend'.
Chepchumba said all attempts to speak him out of the relationship was futile.
"We were very shocked about Kiprotich’s decision to take a step that our community could never accept. But our pleas could not dissuade him,” she added.
Kiprotich's brother Lazarus Kipruto added that his brother would dress in dresses when going to church and school.
The family now says that how he managed to register himself as a female runner is a secret they have never discovered, with the accused now facing impersonation charges.
