Confirming the incident, area chief, Peter Kayago said the deceased, Peter Kurendi was with his friend making timbers when he slid and fell down and the power saw chopped his head.

“Peter slid and fell down near the power saw and his friend mistakenly chopped his neck off,” he said.

Kayago said the man was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“The deceased could not survive since he lost a lot of blood while being taken to hospital,” he said.

The administrator said the deceased body was taken to Nyamache Sub County hospital mortuary waiting for burial.

Kayago called on residents using power saws to wear protective gears to curb unnecessary accidents which may lead to death.

He warned power saw operators against making timbers and fire woods under the influence of alcohol.
