The match, christened Slum Derby, will be played at Nairobi’s Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, starting at 3 PM.

Ahead of the match, the two teams have taken the war of words to social media with Mathare being the first to hit under the belt.

“Hello Kariobangi Sharks FC. Polite reminder! You might have triumphed in the region but back home in the ghetto, there is only one King - The Mighty Mathare United FC. #TheSlumDerby will confirm this tomorrow,” Mathare United posted via facebook.

“Good morning Mathare United! Did you just call yourselves mighty? 3 wins in the league and you’re all-of-a-sudden mighty? We are here with three major trophies na hatusumbui watu (we are not disturbing people). Win something guys……win yourselves something first before you start misusing English words,” Sharks retorted back.

“Kariobangi Sharks FC you've started getting facts wrong very early. But are we surprised? This is how you'll be on the wrong end of the result tomorrow. For your information, while you were away we picked our seventh win of the season,” Mathare United hit back.

Sharks will head into the match fresh from winning the 2019 SportPesa Super Cup after a 1-0 win over Bandari FC in Tanzania on Sunday.

On the same day, Mathare United beat Vihiga United 3-1 in a league match.

United are top of KPL standings with 23 points after 9 matches, while Sharks are 5th with 14 points after 8 matches.

The two sides have met in 4 previous occasions in the league; Sharks winning two, Mathare winning one and another encounter ending with a draw.

United, Sharks and Bandari FC are the three teams yet to lose a KPL match this season.
