Taita-Taveta Governor Granton Samboja is walking a tight rope after a section of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) unveiled plans to impeach him from office.
According to the MCA, the governor has failed to deliver his duties months after he took over office.
Led by Mganga-Mwanda MCA Anselim Chao Mwadime, the lawmakers have said that they have enough reasons to send him home for the sake of better governance.
The leaders yesterday said that the county boss has been ignoring summons from the county assembly to shed more light on certain touching issues. They also claimed that he has failed to constitute the county government for effective service delivery.
“We summoned the governor to appear before the County Assembly to tell us why he had failed to appoint chief county officers, in vain,” said Mr Mwadime.
The sentiments were reiterated by Wumingu-Kishushe MCA Newton Salim, who said that the governor has sidelined the MCAs in his plans.
On his part, Samboja has said the MCAs are free to ahead with their plans but warned them that they are destined for a rude shock.
"Those MCAs behind the Motion do not understand the procedure of impeaching a governor. They should know that they have to write to the Senate detailing their reasons for impeachment to get a go-ahead to do so," the governor said.
