Unlike in State House Nairobi and Nakuru where red carpets were spread for him, award-winning teacher Peter Tabichi returned silently home in Mokorong'osi village with few dignitaries turning up to usher him in.
County Government of Nyamira top leadership could not be seen despite the announcement by the County Secretary Erick Onchana on Saturday that the team would be present for the event.
Senator Okong'o Mogeni, Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, MPs Ben Momanyi, Joash Nyamoko and Vincent Kemosi were all held up in different parts of the country for other assignments.
"He's humble and we are happy for the humble return. We didn't need carpets because he knows his roots. I am happy to be the MP during this auspicious moment," said Mr Shadrack Mose.
Worshippers broke into songs and dances as the Catholic brother took to the podium. In front of him stood the trophy, a manifestation of hard work and determination.
Speaker Moffat Teya hailed Mr Tabichi, a Maths and Physics teacher in a Nakuru school, adding that humility and hard work pays for believers.
"The reception here is strange that what I saw in State House or Nakuru. However, this shows how humble you are. We encourage you to continue mentoring our children," Teya said.
In his speech, Tabichi revealed that part of the money would go for community projects in Kemera where he was born 37 years ago.
